The 2012 Kepler Challenge, the 25th running of New Zealand’s most prestiges mountain running race was held on Dec 1st in cool, windy condition’s, with occasional showers early turning to heavy rain late in the day.
The woman’s race was promising to be a cracker, event after some notable name’s that appeared on earlier start lists where a no show, partly due to the late entry of Ruby Muir from Napier.
First to Luxmore Hut was Sarah Biss, with Muir on her heals, before passing and taking the lead before Iris Burn. Biss would later drop out with hamstring issues, while Muir smashed out the 2nd fastest woman’s time every ran in the Keplers 25 year history.
